Week of 2.5.23
New Music Post-Recital
It's been just over a month since I performed my second DMA recital, a performance I had been anticipating for quite some time and a program that was very challenging! Not long after (actually only one week after) I played part of my recital repertoire for a concerto competition and a solo work on the week following. It's been a busy month! I feel like I can finally take some time away from the recital-prep brain and get back soaking up other parts of this degree!
My semester has been blessed with a schedule full of viola, jazz, and (something I never expected from myself) composition lessons! I am spending so much time exploring all of these areas in practice which means I am fumbling and re-balancing the practice routine.
Here, I want to share the new classical viola rep. that I've chosen and what the early stages of preparation look like. I have new jazz & composition rep as well, but I might save that for a later post.

New Repertoire:
Nico Muhly - Etudes for viola and tape
Paul Hindemith - Viola Sonata Op. 11 No. 4
